What is Legionella? Your legal duties

Infection by Legionella bacteria causes Legionnaires disease which is a potentially fatal form of pneumonia.

Infection is through inhaling water droplets containing the bacteria, found naturally and present in water systems.

Health and Safety legislation states that there are guidelines which must be followed to protect employees and the public from the risks associated with Legionella.

ACoP L8 are the recommended guidelines, first published in 1991, they detail the processes you should follow to be compliant.
